Award-Winning Highley Manor Wedding Photographer

I live in the Kent town of Edenbridge which boarders Surrey & Sussex with my wife Ellen, (who is a city-girl turned country-wife) and my two boys Ellis (15) and Evan (12). This little trio of people keep me focused on what’s important and grateful every day that they are all in my life.

As early as I can remember I have had a camera in my hand, but it wasn’t until around 2006 when a wedding photographer friend needed a second shooter. I was encourage to put my ‘big boy pants on’ and jump head first into weddings…. well I did and I absolutely loved it! I have shot countless weddings now and always have the best time with my amazing couples, I feel like such an imposter, ‘how can I call this work?’

If Carlsberg Did photography it would be a wedding photographer! it truly is the best and most rewarding job ever and I feel so privilege and honoured to capture such a special day!

In 1669 the Manor was home to the Shelley family. Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley moved to Highley Manor in the early 19th century. Towards the end of the 19th century, the manor fell into disuse and was eventually demolished with the present building erected in its place.

In the high living 1920’s Highley Manor achieved most of its fame and notoriety. Rumour has it that Edward Prince of Wales (the uncrowned Edward VIII) entertained Mrs Simpson at Highley. During World War II Highley Manor was used as a base for the Canadian Army and was later lovingly restored by its owner Mr Bruce Stewart.

It is now a beautiful country house hotel used exclusively for weddings and acts as a wonderful reminder of the rich history that surrounds Highley Manor.

As you drive up the winding driveway lined with ancient oak trees, you can’t help but feel like you’re stepping back in time. The grand facade of the manor house, with its intricate brickwork and towering turrets, is a sight to behold and sets the scene for a fairytale wedding.

About Balcombe

Balcombe is a picturesque village located in the Mid Sussex district of West Sussex, England. Nestled within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village is surrounded by rolling hills, ancient woodlands, and scenic farmland, making it a quintessentially English rural setting. Despite its tranquil atmosphere, Balcombe is well-connected, lying roughly equidistant between London and Brighton and served by its own railway station on the London to Brighton line, which has made it a desirable location for commuters seeking a blend of countryside living and city access.

Historically, Balcombe has roots dating back to at least the medieval period, and its parish church, St. Mary’s, reflects this heritage with architectural elements from the 13th century. The village has retained much of its traditional character, with a mix of period homes, local pubs such as The Half Moon Inn, and a strong sense of community. A village shop, primary school, and regular events hosted by local groups contribute to its vibrant local life.

People Also Ask

Here are some frequently asked questions people ask about.

Why choose Piccylicious Photography for your big day?

Because your wedding deserves more than stiff poses and forced smiles—it deserves magic, laughter, happy tears, and a whole lotta love, all captured in our signature candid, relaxed and fun-soaked style.

We’re not just here to take photos—we’re here to tell your story like your favourite rom-com (but better, because it’s real). From the mayhem in the morning to the last dance, we’re in the thick of it, quietly catching the big emotions and the little glances you didn’t even know happened.

Expect giggles, confetti, and a super chill vibe. You just soak it all in—we’ll make sure the memories stay delicious forever.

What happens if we are ever so slightly pants in front of the camera?

Fear not my intrepid victims, me too! That’s why I’m the right side of the camera and I definitely won’t put you through the ringer. I don’t shoot for my portfolio, I shoot your day for the two of you. I’m a photo ninja, I hide in the shadows with my very long lens and I’m only seen when there is a sunset to die for or uncle Bob’s embarrassing himself again!

It’s my job to have a laugh with you both, get you to do a few silly things and just have a bloody good hoot on your wedding day. The camera bit will seem like a piece of cake then, trust me, I’m an expert. You can always book one of my ‘Engagement Shoots’ to ease you both into the limelight.

How do you handle unexpected challenges on the wedding day?

Weddings have a way of keeping you on your toes—weather flips, timeline twists, you name it. Lucky for you, I’ve danced through it all (sometimes literally). I roll with the punches, stay chill, and keep the good vibes flowing no matter what. While you’re busy making memories, I’m in the background catching every laugh, tear, and wild dance move like a B-Boy with a camera. Your day, your way—with zero stress and all the magic locked in forever.
